Oasis After School Programs offers mathematical assistance for elementary and junior high school children alike. Unlike conventional math tutoring, our goal at Oasis is to solve problems. We undertake a consulting-based approach, helping learners to understand their situation and make better early-career decisions. Of course, in the course of doing that we will assist them to understand the multi-cultural, multi-dialectical language of Mathematics.

MSL, or Math as a Second Language, is a style of teaching Math that begins with history and notation. We contextualise the objects that, typically in school, are simply shown to students, under the assumption that the smarter ones will get it. And this may be the case, but we know that many more will understand math, if proper attention was given to the notation of this language, which are an astonishing array of Greek and Roman letters, synonyms, and so-called hermaphroditic words - ones that can act like nouns or verbs, depending on context. Furthermore, we present the historical development of mathematical objects, so that students can glimpse the hundred-year history behind even the most overlooked sign.
